Tank Williams Clevan "Tank" Williams (was born in 1980, June 30 in Gulfport, MS) is famous American football safety. Presently he is a free agent. Williams has been drafted in the 2nd round of the 2002 NFL Draft by Tennessee Titans. In the early years he was playing football at the college of Stanford. Williams was also a player of such team as Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots.
 Tank Williams - Early Years Williams studied at Bay High School that is situated in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi State. Here he was playing as a safety and as a quarterback as well. For four years, as a good sportsman, he played basketball a lot and also ran the track in a high school. At the high school years he was working in Winn-Dixie grocery store as a bag boy. The nickname “Tank” came from Williams’s childhood and exactly from his sister that suggested to the mother to give him a big tank of milk instead of usual bottle, because as infant he drank milk way too much.
 Career at the College In 1998 Williams participated in 10 football games like a true freshman during the study at the Stanford University. 1999 – He began six football games at free safety, as a junior he won 2nd team All Pacific 10 Conference honors. Tank Williams was the first-team All Pac 10 pick. He became the 1st defensive back in the history of the school and thanks to that, he won the national first team honors.
Professional football career
 Tennessee Titans team During the 2002 NFL Draft the football player Tank Williams was drafted by the famous Tennessee Titans in the second round – 45th overall, so in 2002 he was starting every game as a freshman for the Titans, same was happening in 2003, he posted 81 tackles, the fourth of the Titans’ defense against the run, that was acknowledged the best in the NFL. Unfortunately in 2004 he got really serious knee injury and was recovering that put him on the place of injured reserve in November 29. His return was in 2005 and Williams continued to start each game for the Tennessee Titans’, and recorded high 83 tackles for his career.
Minnesota Vikings team The next his big step was in March 2006 by signing the contract with Minnesota Vikings for a free agent. After shattering the kneecap August 26, Williams was again placed to the injured reserve for whole 2006 season. The Minnesota Vikings resigned the one year contract with Williams again. He participated only in two football games in 2007, and has recorded 18 tackles for whole year. New England Patriots team March 5, 2008, the new contract for one year with New England Patriots was signed. Again Williams had severe injures on his knee during the trainings at the camp, and again was placed on reserve that ended his season. New England Patriots resigned the contract with him on March 16, 2009. August 25, he got his release when the football team has signed 3rd round pick with Tyrone McKenzie.
